Do you suffer from tendonitis, pain in the thumb saddle joint or finger joints, strain injuries in the wrist or ganglia, also known as ganglion cysts?
Of course, tenosynovitis does not require surgery. However, even in the case of a ganglion, we recommend conservative treatment in order to avoid clinical intervention whenever a sensible alternative is available.
Using the practice's own digital X-ray diagnostics and ultrasound, we get a picture of the condition of the hand. If there is more serious damage, we are happy to arrange a short-term MRI appointment for our patients on request. And this is regardless of whether you have statutory or private health insurance.
Once the findings have been clarified, we begin treatment. In the case of tenosynovitis, we combine a bandage and possibly ointment dressings with immobilization of the hand to avoid further strain.
We rely on our proven holistic therapy, starting with the injection of cortisone to combat the inflammation. Over a period of several weeks, we combine collagen and/or plasma injections with the application of shock waves.
Some patients are initially concerned about whether the injections will be painful. It is true, of course, that the hand in particular is criss-crossed by many nerve fibers and is therefore more sensitive than, for example, the shoulder or back. At the same time, however, patients feel a significant improvement in their condition after just the second or third session, so that their concerns are quickly dispelled and they are happy to accept the sometimes annoying but also very effective injection.
The injections are so effective because we can use ultrasound guidance to position the needle exactly where the serum can have the maximum healing effect. Once the orthopedic treatment has been successfully completed, the patient can actively contribute to maintaining the long-term success of the treatment by doing exercises that I demonstrate based on the respective clinical picture, depending on the findings and cause. The physiotherapy team at our practice is available for this purpose and can be seamlessly integrated into the individual (follow-up) treatment upon request.
