Decompression therapy / SpineMed / Backtrac therapy table

Extension beds are used to relieve pressure on the spine, especially the intervertebral discs and vertebral joints.

In accordance with the circadian day-night rhythm, the intervertebral disc absorbs nutrients and water when lying down. This transport is subject to a pumping mechanism. The intervertebral disc reabsorbs itself like a sponge at night. This makes people 1-2 cm taller in the morning than in the evening. Any kind of strain exerts external pressure on the intervertebral discs, squeezing out water and nutrients, which causes the intervertebral discs to become porous and deformed over time. A protrusion, which is usually already painful, can lead to a herniation with corresponding symptoms.

Depending on the indication, the therapy table stretches the intervertebral disc and vertebral joints in precisely measured doses over a period of several minutes in the cervical or lumbar spine. This traction allows a protruding or herniated disc to return to its original position and the pain subsides. At the same time, the intervertebral disc absorbs nutrients. Optimal intervertebral disc nutrition minimizes the risk of developing certain back problems. On the other hand, the joints are relieved, which stimulates nutrient absorption and the production of synovial fluid. Waste products are disposed of, minimizing painful joint and intervertebral disc wear.

With his proven experience and special expertise in the orthopedic treatment of back problems, Dr. Heiko Diedrich has significantly expanded the concept of a therapy table and added valuable treatment options. We are very pleased to be able to present the expanded “Backtrac therapy table” to our patients at the orthopedic health practice in Palma after more than twelve years of development work as the next step in decompression therapy and as a patented world first.

Since decompression therapy does not require any injections, this therapy is also particularly interesting for patients who do not want to be treated with injections if possible.
